For every woman wasting her entire life behind bars because she disagreed with Government policy on drugs, there are over 20 men in Michigan whose futures were stolen from them forever with a life sentence for drugs.
Space does not permit the listing of the 46 women serving numeric sentences of 10 years or longer for drugs. Nor does it permit listing of the 1,053 men serving numeric sentences of 10 years or longer for drugs. Nor does it permit listing of the 5,467 people of both sexes serving Michigan prison sentences of any length for drugs. Nor does it permit listing of the numerous people serving county jail sentences in Michigan, the many people serving drug sentences on convictions from federal court, or the countless thousands of people serving sentences for drugs in states other than Michigan.
